With the culmination of the Holly Jumpsuit sewalong just around the corner it’s competition city over here at By Hand London HQ as we’re about to launch our first ever Pattern Hackathon, where points most definitely mean prizes. The main thing we love about sewing patterns is how mashing up our most treasured designs makes our wardrobe infinitely versatile, so, for our hackathon, we want you to show off your favourite hacks, hybrids and lovechildren.
We’ve teamed up with some of our fabulous stockists to put together a hamper jam packed FULL of surprise sewing goodies for your winning pleasure. Without ruining the surprise for the champion, we can tell you that the hamper includes fabric, notions and tools provided by our friends over at Fabric Godmother, Grey's Fabric & Notions, Minerva Crafts, Sewbox, Tesutti and The Village Haberdashery among other little treats.
Well, you’ve got to be in it to win it, so, to be in with a chance of snapping up this smorgasbord of sewing delights. All you have to do is show us your finest pattern hacks, containing at least one By Hand London element (i.e. bodice/skirt/sense of disorganisation) by Friday 14th November 2014. After that closing date, all the entries will be uploaded to our Facebook album, and the winner will be the one with the most ‘Likes’ and ‘Shares’ at the end of the 1 week voting period.
Just kidding, unfortunately this is not T-Birds vs. Scorpions and we need some level of decorum (we can try), so there are a few conditions we would like you to adhere to:
- #Patternhackathon - You can enter via our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Email (victoria@byhandlondon.com) or carrier pigeon but your entry MUST be hashtagged so we can catch you all!
- Pattern hacks must be new makes - We want voters to see something brand spanking new, so please only enter with makes you have not yet published on your blog/Instagram/local notice board, but don’t worry, you’ve got plenty of time to whip up something fresh!
- Good quality photos - We’re talking light and clear, everyone wants to be able to see your work but also because better photos often get more votes so it works both ways. Extra points for cats (obviously).
- All entries must be submitted by Midnight GMT Friday 14th November 2014 - No wiggle room for lateness I’m afraid, it’s not fair on the others.
We’ll be releasing sneaky peaks of the prizes throughout the competition so keep those peepers peeled, in the meantime, happy hacking and don’t forget to hashtag!
