Try as we might, we don't always get things 100% perfect. No matter how many times we test, check and proofread our patterns, we almost always end up finding a little typo, or even an actual mistake somewhere. The beauty of PDF patterns is that it is usually quick and easy to update these errors, but that is not the case with a printed product like our (now discontinued) paper patterns and book.
Here you will find a list of the typos/mistakes we have noticed in our products so you can clarify anything you spot that seems wrong. If you spot a mistake in any of our products that is not yet listed here, please let us know! You can get in touch by emailing help@byhandlondon.com with the subject line "pattern errata". This page is a work in progress and we will continue to add to it as and when we spot mistakes, and we will add a note next to anything that gets updated so you can tell if you have an old version (email us if you suspect you have an old version and haven't received the update!).
SEWING PATTERNS
Elisalex Dress
All Variation 2 bodice pieces are labelled C! This applies to the copyshop files only, print at home files are correct. It should be:
E - Bodice centre front variations 2&3
F - Bodice side front variations 2&3
G - Bodice centre back variations 2&3
H - Bodice side back variations 2&3
I - Front facing variations 2&3
J - Back facing variations 2&3
Hannah Dress
D cup size 16-34: long sleeve pattern piece is missing cuff eyelets. Please refer to the long sleeve piece of the B cup size 6-24 range as a guide for eyelet placement.
B cup size 22: the lineweight for this size on the pattern pieces is incorrect. Please check the size you are cutting and highlight with a coloured pen so you are clear as to what lines you need to cut for your size.
Instruction booklet page 18 (D cup) / 24 (B cup): There should be a last bullet point saying, "Finish by removing the visible basting stitches from when you stay stitched the neckline."
Rumana Coat
Printed pattern: the back lining pieces should be cut with your fabric WRONG SIDE UP. Please ignore the layplans in the instruction booklet which say to cut right side up. The information on the pattern pieces is correct.
