Oh thank you all so much for entering our dream dress competition! We have just absolutely loved seeing your creativity drawn out on our Sewing Planner. It's taken us a couple days to decide on a winner for the ultimate prize of all BHL patterns + $200 to spend online at The Fabric Store... But we're finally there! My entry for the BHL sewing planner challenge! I would looooove to make a green stretch velvet gown..... This would be a mashup of #m7653 and #m7561 with a thick waistband to hopefully support the weight of the skirt 🙈 I tried taking a picture of some gorgeous dark green velvet, but my phone wouldn't cooperate 😂😂 . . . @byhandlondon @wearethefabricstore #bhlsewingplanner

The only problem I have with Valentino's crazy amazing embroidered dresses is the dearth of creepy crawly couture - where are my moths, my snakes, my newts?? Were I to make my dream dress, it would heavily feature embroidered and appliqued flora and fauna on a fairly simple fitted bodice with a flowy silk overlay skirt. The fabric featured in the picture is my own avocado-dyed silk. Thanks @byhandlondon and @wearethefabricstore for the chance to imagine my perfect garment on the #bhlsewingplanner!

Stranded in Brussels because of too much snow. It gave me just the time needed to finally draw my dream dress! Too bad the light in the hotel room is pretty bad, because those fabrics from @siebenblau are wonderful! If I ever sew this dress i'll need to choose between the mint sateen and stone blue tulle or green jewel sateen and petrol tulle. The dress is actually inspired from a star trek episode. I imagine wearing it at the Wave Gothic meeting in Leipzig. I have never been any good at drawing, but with the croquis on the #BHLsewingplanner it gets easier! These dresses have been on my mind and now I can visualise them 😀So here they are! 👗 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. A raglan bodice with twist neck collar and keyhole, wide cuff on a bishop sleeve and big skirt. The dress can be made in lightweight fabric such as chiffon, viscose or crepe fabric. The bodice might resemble the Rosemary blouse from @stylearc ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. #BHLGeorgia bodice from @byhandlondon with (boob) collar, button closed halter straps, waistband and a circle skirt. I bought this fabric in New York at Christmas and this was going to be my party dress for this summer. My dream party dress would be something like this: A very flowy, subtly glittery yet elegant dress. Between me and this dress is just a lot more learning and sewing practice (and a bit of saving money :P). I guess the Anna dress could be modified into something like this. I hope the annotations are readable ^^ This is again the #BHLSewingPlanner from @byhandlondon with modified hair cut :P @wearethefabricstore It would also fit perfectly to my refashioned blazer/coat ^^

A little sketch of the helmi tunic dress I am working on made out of beautiful dark green rayon fabric with white flowers. I still have not decided which button I will use for the collar. The sparkling green one or the gold one... ? But otherwise I think this dress will be awesome. It is no crazy party dress but rather a dress I can easily wear to family dinners over the holidays. I used the #BHLSewingPlanner for this sketch and croquis three, I think, because it fit best to my body type. But I changed the hair cut :P I just cannot pull off an afro ;D @byhandlondon & @wearethefabricstore I just realized that the quality of the photo is really bad. 😐 Sorry for that. 😓

The weather here still hasn't made up its mind and as far as I'm concerned neither have I when it comes to what to make next. One project I'm still mentally preparing for is a chiffon wrap dress using McCall's Pattern M7406. Found it for $2 at @joann_stores and am in anticipation yet fear of working with this beautiful chiffon from @fabricmart. Drafting has proved helpful though in preparing my head for the pattern pieces I want to use as I will be using the sleeves from one design and the dress from another. I can just see myself barefoot, sipping a mimosa from an expensive hotel patio in it, or dancing and letting the air make the bottom flow behind me.
