And so Me-Made-May has drawn to a close once again. As ever, I (Elisalex) had a blast taking part, although I did totally flake out on the daily outfit posts for the last few days... I take away with me something new every time I participate in Zoe's challenge, and this year was no exception - I have finally come to terms with the fact that I mostly like to sew party dresses and swooshy skirts. While I'm sure that statement will come as no surprise to many of you familiar with the style of sewing pattern we design, it was good for me to stop giving myself a hard time for having such a limited selection of me-made basics in my wardrobe. Once I had accepted that, Me-Made-May ended up becoming a month to celebrate my love of dressing up!
But enough about me, what we really loved about Me-Made-May was seeing all of you rocking your BHL's all May long! Here are just a handful of your makes that stood out for us last month... (And when I say handful, I really mean a pinch - the hashtag #mmmay15 has a mind blowing 13,385 posts on Instagram alone, and that's not counting variations such as #mmm15 or #memademay15... I tell you, methinks a trip to the optician is in order after having played Spot the BHL through all of those!)
Here we go! Left-right from the top: Alexis from @jpknitandstitch finds the perfect wall to show off her hacked Holly Jumpsuit made from Cotton + Steel fabric (oh, the endless search for the perfect walls...) | Another Holly hack, this time a button-down Holly dress by @zoeblofeld | And Holly hack number three! @sallieoleta turns the drapey cowl bodice into a fuss-free chic-le-freak day dress | @chrystalclear_ in her tropical Flora Dress, and like so many of us, whipping out the Summer dresses only discover that it's actually frickin' freezing out there.
Double BHL whammy for @catherinestockholm as she proudly parades her Georgia Dress and perfect little Victoria Blazer cover-up | Where we want to be - getting ready for a hula party with @knitnbee and her maxi Anna Dress!
Two pics are better than one! We love the simplistic perfection of @janedoedeer's bow-print Anna | @jessiehuen is a vision of ethereal beauty in her drapey Flora.
@roisinmuldoon does us proud, as always, in a dreamy Elisalex Dress | Loving the colours and fabric choice of @honeycreweller's Anna Dress (in fact, I may have been sewing something from that exact same cotton just yesterday...!) | Matching your dress to your location seems to be a winner - just look how the flowers on @sewithought's Kim Dress pop next to those bright orange doors! | A look that I myself am often partial to, @butterflybalcony nails preppy-cool in her sweet Kim Dress and crisp white shirt.
Aaaaand last, but most definitely not least - we wanted to give a special shout out to @beezekneesfashions for these six - yes, six! - magnificent creations all made from novelty comic and vintage movie poster fabrics (and one celestial print Anna Dress thrown in for good measure!). Sadly we can't get good close ups here, but if you check out her Instagram account you'll see more of the amazing Batman, Audrey Hepburn and Monster Movie fabrics she used. Ladies, feast your eyes:
Once again, let me reiterate that this selection is simply the tip of the iceberg - seeing all of your By Hand London makes popping up on our Instagram feed throughout Me-Made-May was just amazing and inspiring. You guys!!
