NYE party dress: There will be gold

In general, in life, my absolute favourite combination is black + gold. Happily, the festive season is the perfect time to indulge this (minor obsession) to the MAX. So, when looking for fabric to make my NYE Elisalex Dress out of, I trawled London town to find the most shiny, the most 80s-backing-dancer gold fabric I could find. Using this to make the sleeveless bodice variation of the Elisalex Dress (with a nice wholesome cotton lining btw), I then added a floor length black jersey 1/4 circle skirt. I have to say, I absolutely LOVE shape of this dress; it's sexy + elegant, which, in my opinon, along with black + gold, is pretty much a winning combo.

Ummm, you may just have landed on one of our favourite variations… our love child; the Elisalotte Dress! We will have some of our own up soon, no doubt, but make sure you show us yours if you do end up making it! In terms of NYE, I’m afraid that you’re right, it is now too late now for your patterns to arrive in time. Maybe a new year’s resolution though…?

Darn it…I didn’t get one for Christmas but had just this in mind for a NYE dress…actually, I’m thinking the Elisalex top and Charlotte skirt would make my perfect silhouette. Don’t think I can get hold of one in time…damn. Dress looks beautiful though.

Gorgeous! I’m not sure if I could do this yet, I’m kind of beginner intermediate and just getting in to altering fit! I’m also super short! But I love your patterns anyway and I hope I get some for Christmas!

    Hi Kristin,
Beginner / Intermediate level should actually be just fine for the Elisalex Dress. I (Charlotte) am pretty much the same kinda level (just getting into altering fit as well) and am fine with the Elisalex Dress. Just have to take it slow and steady along those curved princess seams in the bodice! We’ll have a sewalong coming up in the new year as well, to help you out a bit more. If you do get one for Christmas, let us know how you get along! x

Technicolour floral jersey, you say – this I gotta see! Post it up when you’re finished so we can have a peek, pleeeease. Thank you for the compliment too! Drapiness of thicker jersey helps create some mean lines.
