We find it difficult to resist the call of a sewing blogger challenge, and, with our love of leopard print (yup, we put some on our Charlotte Skirt packaging), joining in Jungle January from Pretty Grievances was a no-brainer. BUT, we do also love a tight deadline! Hence, we're showing you our attempt on the very last day of the month...
I bought 2m of the 100% cotton fabric from Ebay a couple weeks back and decided to make a shorter, flamenco style version of the Charlotte Skirt. I was in no small part inspired by sewing blogger Winnie (AKA Scruffy Badger) too! Check out what she made right here.
In then end I was a bit naughty and just hacked away at the length, no measuring tape or anything, so pretty lucky it didn't end up too indecent! I teamed it with some vertiginous (yah, I read) H&M heels + black cardigan from Zara + vintage fur. I'm very very happy with it and think it's perfect for a night dancing with the ladies, or a night out with my boy. For now though, I'm just going to wear it to the Post Office #GLAMOUR.

Thaaaanks! Got lucky this time, hacking away without a tape measure is definitely ill-advised (may have had a couple accidents before).

What a team we would make! That’s it, if we’re ever in the same town, we’re getting some beers, some high heels and going down the Post Office to make friends.

Turn out so cool. Loove it

HAHAHA! I bet you livened up the post office! Unlike the time I got a terrible day drunk on with a couple of friends before realizing I still needed to go to the post office… I couldn’t stop chattering away at the man in the window and I’m sure everyone else in line wanted to kill me…

Hells YES Heather Lou! That Skype beer has got to happen. Definitely give us a shout once you’re settled in and ready to tawk. Glad the post made you laugh! I was hoping it would come across funny (as opposed to a bit sad). And yesyesyes, a little sleaze goes a long way.

I know, at least one four syllable word a week to keep the cobwebs at bay. And yup! Totally did it, went to the Post Office like that and got stared at (I like to think in an admiring way) by all the loons that usually hang out outside.

Why thank you! I do really like this shorter style too, think I’m going to stick to it for my next few skirts. As for that print, well, you just CANNOT go amiss with cerise + black zebra.

Love the pink zebra fabric and way to squeeze in Jungle Jan on the final day! You skirt is very cute- the length turned out great despite the “hacking.” :)
