Vintage or second hand quilts are perfect for this pattern. We love a good repurposing project! If you’re quilting the fabric yourself, opt for stable cottons, linens or poly cotton blends. If you want to challenge yourself, velvet, velveteen or dressmaking weight jacquard adds a splash of glamour. Remember that you will have three layers: your main fabric, your batting and the inside backing fabric, so it's best to avoid anything too heavy.

Batting: choose high quality batting in cotton, wool, bamboo or a blend. The thicker the batting the warmer your coat will be! For the backing, lightweight cottons are ideal.
